BIG TIME CATCH UP! TSUNAMI DAY FEB.2010

So early morning like 3:00 am I woke up to a text message from a friend in VA who saw on the news a tsunami might come to hawaii, I didnt read it but the sound woke me up and as i was falling back asleep I heard someone knocking on my neighbors door yelling Tsunami you might wanna get prepared!!!! I jumped up and was like huh? then realized everyone was awake called people and at 6 we had the state wide alarms sounding to take higher ground...before they closed off the streets I was able to get gas and hit the highest ground I know! check out my pics...

Drew went to work and got a water cooler and filled it with ice for us =) just in case!

Andy from VA had just moved to the island JK and I know him so I called him and told him where to meet me if he was allowed to leave pearl harbor.

everyone else on our side of the island showed up too haha it was a big party half the people were in PJ's still if i had a coffee pot we could have made some major cash haha

OK I was totally slacking here...last post was when JK left and while he was gone I visited home twice once in October where i first saw the new OBX house

Then in December I went to the North Shore straight after work one day to catch the swell of big waves coming in for a few days (this happens every dec/jan for a few days) heres some pics of the north shore in the winter =)

JK's last weekend and Deployment

For JK's last weekend we took it easy and Saturday did some running around ate lunch and dinner out went to the zoo that was nice and he packed that evening, Sunday we went and got his hair cut and then to the north shore, the truck broke down and as you know my car was in the shop at the same time so we didn't have a enjoyable last full day together but at least we were together! that evening when we finally got towed home we had to get a friend to take us to get a rental so he could load the ship and I could go to work...Then Tue he left, anyways here are some pics...

We have had a Gecko in the house for about 5 months now lol we caught on it was the same one over and over when we saw his 7pm routine..every night at 7 he walks accross the wall to the window and goes outside through his little gap and does whatever geckos do at night outside but he comes back in early AM and does this daily, every now and then he scares me in the morning when I come down to get ready for work...so latley anytime I see him I and taking a pic haha here is Pedros photo shoots!

P.S. hes not affraid of us anymore he watches us do stuff now haha we keep him because its good luck to have a gecko inside and also they eat spiders and stuff!

Random Update

Its time for a update! I have been doing good JK leaves for sea in 3-4 weeks =( then I am planning a trip home shortly after he leaves and another for Christmas and another when he gets back in march =) wow that's a lot of air time lol oh and it also makes the half way point in Hawaii!!! JK woke up super early and Drew came over to meet him around 4am and they went to climb the Haiku stairs (stairway to heaven) its illegal so you have to start early before the guard gets to the bottom...here are some pics he brought back! it took em hours! and 4 thousand stairs...

First Week Back in Hawaii

So I already did a lot for not even being back for a week yet and working since the day after I landed lol ! So Saturday was the 4th of July we went to our "Hawaiian families cookout" when you move to HI you are supposed to get a Hawaiian family to adopt you so my friend Courtney's family was first to do that =) here are some pics of the fun we had!

Sunday after I got off work we went to the North Shore looking for the Lost shows set, we knew where to find their "campsite" for the scenes that took place their and I guess they are still using the set since they were watering the bushes in the sand near by lol...while on that beach we noticed tons of sea turtles in the water then next thing you know they are coming on the beach to rest =) I got some good pics and was soooo excited to see them!

This is my most updated post in a while I also added the two below today in order =) ill try to keep up next time haha its not so easy...So this weekend was busy I went to my 9hr long certification class for a group exercise certification I feel like I did good on both practicles and written test we will see in 2-4weeks! if I passed I will be able to teach all kinds of group exercise classes from Yoga, Step, Water Aerobics, Muscle classes and anything in between! =) yay and then after that 8-6 day I went home and got ready for my friend Courtney's 21st B-Day! we went to Zanzabar in Waikiki Below are some pics!

So the next morning me and JK woke up and decided to "go explore" so we went all over Hawaii Kai area near the blow hole and walked arround on the other side of the guard rail on the highway! hehe you can click on pics to see full sizes and scroll through em!

Their was even a bridge kinda cool for a hidden spot on the side of a Mt. guess you never know what your gonna find!

JK left for Kauai 2 Weeks

So JK left again this time only 2 weeks to a neighbor Island 20min flight!! he got bit by a 7inch centipede I had no clue they got that big! heres a pic of his bite and swollen toe after as well as a 7inch centipede!

So I have been slacking on this keeping posts updated thing but I am going to update everything I have pics of right now! =) starting with JK went to CA for 6 1/2 weeks so I didnt do much picture worthy things while he was gone but the weekend he was back we went on a 3mile hike to a little waterfall and here are the pics to that...p.s. Waimea Falls (North Shore)

So this past weekend we decided to hike to Waimea Falls and swim...It is at the North Shore in Waimea Valley. This was a pretty hike with tons of beautiful tropical flowers and I was so hot from carrying towels that I could not wait to make it to the fall!

This is a Temple of some sort built between 1470 AD and 1700 AD

This is Fred he guards the path its his little spot and hes also kind of blind poor bird but look how big...I'm on my tip toes behind him!

Jk's First Weekend Back

Well Jk is back and maybe ill be doing more exciting things to blog about...we decided to do a hike every weekend and for the first hike we chose the Mokapu Lighthouse, I have done it two times before but JK has not! it was a beautiful morning to hike it, look at the pics!

I got the job as a Recreation Attendant on Marine Corp Base Hawaii (MCBH on the map of Oahu) It is awesome, I have a government ID I can get on base and use most of its facilities well everything but the commissary so that sucks right now because JK left me for 6 weeks!!! hes in CA for some training he needs before he goes out to sea in June. I'm keeping busy with work,working out, and enjoying the sun when its shinning. During the winter in Hawaii it rains on and off all day long!! Spring is about here and its getting better every day =) The last sunny day I decided to go layout and swim on the beach on base, boy did I pick a good day to do that it was the once a year day of huge waves the biggest I have ever seen in my life!!! The pictures don't do it justice but here they are, keep in mind I'm zoomed up from the parking lot cause the water was taking over the beach so they are far away from me which makes it look even smaller then they were =(

Well I guess I'm not swimming today...

Today is my first day at work! I finally got a job, I will be working on the Marine Corp base down the road(same one JK works on) at the gym =) so I'm excited to start that. JK leaves on Sat. for 6 weeks....so at least ill have work and a gym to use the whole time! This weekend we went to a Jimmy Buffett concert at the Waikiki Shell it was a good time, here are a good amount of my pics.

KOKO Crater Hike!

So this week went fast because I actually had appointments set up for interviews at 24 Hour Fitness. I felt uncomfortable their because they kept trying to sell me a membership at the same time they gave me interviews, also I worked out their two days and its soooo small compared to Gold's and it is crowded I did not like it! But its a job. Jobs are obviously limited on a Island....I'm considering waiting tables because in 4 months ill be going home for a while and what other job besides a restaurant will let you leave a month or two after only working 4 and come back to the same position? So we will see! This weekend was a 3 day weekend for JK! Friday we didn't do anything just watched a movie at the house, Saturday was V-Day we exchanged our cards and it was too windy to do what JK had planned I still have no clue what it was, guessing something on a boat. So we just did some shopping, went to lunch and drove around some. (Jimmy Buffett is our V-Day gifts on the 28th)Sunday was a beach day ,and Monday we decided to wake up and hike the koko crater trail. We have passed it multiple times before and said we will do it, Koko Crater is an extinct volcanic crater on the south shore of Oahu, which is more then 1,200 feet high we climbed every foot started at sea level(1,207 big steps)!

Weekend Fun!

Wednesday will make a month I have been out here still no job... lack of opportunities on a island! Today is Monday so its a new week and I plan on job hunting everyday. Friday we went to a brewery downtown and hung out with some friends

Saturday we were going to go to the beach but by the time Drew and Tawny made it to our side of the Island it had started to rain on and off so we went to the dive shop, got a smoothie, walked around and somehow ended up at the Nu'uanu Pali overlook (the bloodiest site in Hawaii) which I had never been to during the day. I went at night on a ghost tour back in November...it was pretty but chilly and windy!!! the guys had shoes so they decided to leave us at the bottom while they climbed up to the top on some trail they found but JK brought back pics check em out (I'm going up next time!)

Sunday was HOT!!!! it was also the Pro Bowl I took a pic of the Aloha Stadium when I drove by for Ashley lol and instead of fighting traffic (limos everywhere!) we all went to a cliff called the China Wall where Tawny and I sat and baked while the guys jumped off to scope out their next spear fishing spot, you can get tunas and octopus at this cliff! its a fun spot, you have to park infront of houses and walk a trail to the cliff and this is what you see!

Super Bowl Weekend

This week JK tried a few times to get the car registered...attempt one was a Sat. and the satellite office near the house is closed on Saturdays so we went to this mall that had one open....got their and it was a CRAZY line, we didn't wait! (should have) attempt two & three he worked too late, attempt four he got their at 4:30 thinking they closed at 5 well they close at 4 now!! So Saturday (a week later) bright and early we went to the one in the mall again and it was great! no line but when we got done it was a huge one =) yay I can drive now!!!! Oh yeah here's a pic. of my restaurant lol

Saturday night was our friend Ozzy's last few nights on the Island so we meet him at Ruby Tuesdays, you can always find Ozzy at Ruby Tuesdays...He didn't have any pics of his friends so I made a point to take a few at dinner Sat. and at the super bowl party Sun.

The Condo!

Well I went arround this morning and took pics of the condo so everyone can see what it looks like! Not complete by anymeans, JK plans on re-doing the bath and kitchen as well as a new floor in the livingroom and kitchen, he already got the whole house painted white and new carpet up the stairs and throughout the bed rooms now its up to me to add some color and life to this place haha!

First Week in Hawaii

Well Wednesday made a week that I have been here...went good, was bored during the work week since JK was working and I had no vehicle! Thank God we live close to a shopping center...it kept me sane walking to it multiple times a day for random things and coffee =) The weekend was awesome and long due to Monday being a holiday (and my birthday!). Friday we went to dinner at a awesome restaurant called Haleiwa Joe'sThen Saturday the guys went spear fishing, thats where they killed the state fish, it's called the Humuhumukununukuapua'a (no joke) and they didn't know until they pulled up on the beach and a lady told them what it was...oops also it would have been a 2,500 fine and they had 3!!!!!!

Monday was my B-day JK's gift to me was snorkel gear (still need to find a snorkel). Everyone was off so back to the beach/Rabbit Island so the guys could fish some more and Tawny,Courtney, and I could lay out...The plan was to grill lunch but they didn't come back in time for that! It was already dinner when they came in and we were starving by then, also JK had some birthday plans for me =) we skipped the grilling and went to a nice restaurant called formaggio's where I had a $20 sandwich lol it was great though!

Wednesday I went on a Humpback Whale watching hike to a light house with Tawny and Courtney it was a beautiful day to do it! Saw a few blows from the whales but none came out of the water or even showed a tail =(
